NMMS - Purpose
Launched in May 2008, the NMMS Scholarship aims to encourage bright and disadvantaged students to complete their secondary and higher secondary education so as to improve dropout rates from post-Class 8 schools. Each year, classes 9 to 12 attend state-level selection tests for two students to receive the benefits of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship.
NMMS - Awards
N.M.M.S. Distributes a total of 100,000 scholarships to selected students at a rate of ,000 12,000 per year, or 1000 1,000 per month. Under the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship, the scholarship amount is paid by the State Bank of India (SBI) on a one-time basis. This amount is transferred directly to the student's account through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). The number of scholarships allotted to each State and Union Territory is calculated on the basis of enrollment of students in Class 7 and 8 and their population in the respective States. Details of the NMMS amount are published below.
9th class students receive a one-time scholarship, i.e. Rs. 12,000 per annum for the academic year.
The scholarship is renewed every year until the student completes his / her higher secondary level education (Class 12), however every year the candidate gets a clear promotion in the higher class.
NMMS - Important Dates
This MCM Scholarship is usually announced during the month of August every year and its last date is in the month of October. The duration of this application is temporary as it varies from year to year. It may change next year at the discretion of the scholarship provider. For the academic year 2020-21, the last date to apply for this scholarship is 31 December 2020.
NMMS - Eligibility Criteria
Applied only to eligible and needy students in India, this MCM Scholarship Scheme expects all applicants to meet the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for the selection test for scholarships.
Candidates wishing to apply for this MCM Scholarship should be regular students studying in after receiving a clear promotion from a class with at least %%% or equivalent grade.

Candidates must get education from Government / Local Institutions / Government Supporting Schools.
To continue the scholarship in higher secondary school, the candidate has to get at least 60% marks in the 10th standard board examination.
In order to continue the scholarship in class 12, the scholarship award must receive a clear promotion from class 11 in the first attempt with 55% marks or equivalent marks. For SC / ST category students, %% discount in marks is given.
The annual family income of the candidates should not exceed INR 1.5 lakh.
Also, students who enroll in NVS, KVS, soldier schools and private schools are not eligible for this MCM Scholarship.

First, applicants are required to register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) as a new user by filling in all the correct information.
Candidates applying for the scholarship are advised to keep scanned copies of the relevant documents with them at the time of application process.
Information like educational qualification, Aadhaar card number, school registration number, bank details and state residence will have to be filled by the applicant candidate.
Candidate's application ID is created upon registration on NSP. This application ID is used on NSP and as a future Gin ID and for future references.
Applicants studying in classes 9 and 10 are required to apply under the pre-matric scholarship category while candidates studying in classes 11 and 12 are required to apply under the post-matric scholarship category.
The applicant should be careful while filling in the details like name, date of birth, email id, identity details and mobile number of the applicant.
Upload all required documents and save the details as a draft.
After making sure that all the filled information is correct and correct, the candidate is finally required to submit the completed application form.

NMMS - Selection Criteria
N.M.M.S. Despite the Central Government Scholarship Scheme, its selection test is conducted in every State / UT. Are taken for their respective students by. These tests include the Mental Ability Test and the Educational Aptitude Test whose guidelines are set by the NCERT. Applicants are required to complete each test for a maximum duration of 90 minutes. However, children with special abilities are given a little more time to complete the tests.
