Fit India School Week 2020


On 29 August 2019, the Honorable Prime Minister launched a nationwide "Fit India Movement" with the aim of encouraging people to develop physical activity and sports in their everyday lives and daily routines.
The school is the first place where habits are formed. School children should be encouraged to join the active area during school time to engage in fitness and sports activities. This will instill understanding in students for regular physical activity and a high level of fitness, thereby increasing self-esteem and confidence in them. Keeping these objectives in mind, the Fit India School Week program was launched in 2019.






This year "Fit India School Week" will be virtually celebrated by schools in December.


guidelines

Schools to ensure that all students, parents, staff and management participate actively in the Fit India School Week 2020 program
Schools can create a new page called "Fit India School Week 2020" on their website and upload activities and related pictures / videos on it.
Schools should register themselves at https://fitindia.gov.in/fit-india-school-week and upload photo and video links related to the event
All registered schools can download a digital certificate which can be downloaded from the Fit India portal after successful organization of Fit India School Week.
Schools are encouraged to share / post activities on their social media channels with #NewIndiaFitIndia and tag @FitIndiaOff

Days activity

01 (i) Virtual Assembly - Free Hand Exercise
(ii) Fun & Fitness - aerobics, dance form, rope skipping, hopscotch, jig jag and shuttle running etc. The Fit India Active Brake Capsule can be used for demonstration purposes.



02 (i) Virtual Assembly - Common Sum Protocol
(ii) Debates, seminars, lectures "Reinforcing the Mind Post Epidemic" - mental health activities for students, staff and parents
(iii) Open letter to the nation's youth on "Power of Fitness"
(iv) "Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not punishment for what you are eating, etc."
03 (i) Brain games to improve concentration / problem solving ability - like chess, rubik's cube etc.
(ii) Poster making competition on the theme "Hum Fit India Fit" or "New India Fit India"
(iii) Advertisement on "We are fit India Fit", "Emotional and physical well-being are interlinked" etc.
04 (i) Debates, seminars, lectures etc. for students / staff and parents about diet and nutrition during the epidemic.
(ii) Essay / Poem writing competition on the topic "Health beat epidemic"
(iii) Making podcasts / movies on suggested topics - "Get fit, don't quit"; "Mental health is not a destination but a journey" etc.
05 (i) Online quiz related to fitness / sports
(ii) Virtual challenges for students, staff / teachers e.g.
 
Squats challenge
Step up challenge
Spot jogging
Towing
Ball dribbling etc.
(iii) Session by motivational speakers for students, parents and school staff.

06 1 Day Dedicated to Family Fitness:
(i) Activities for students and parents at home fitness sessions - Fit India Active Day capsules can be used for demonstration purposes
 

(ii) Creatively using home appliances for sports and fitness. like

Hacky sack at home (juggling with feet and hands - warming activity)
Socket - aluminum foil inside the ball and any piece of wood - bat to play cricket
Mosquito bat and TT ball for playing badminton / tennis
Fitness Circuit - Build a ladder on the floor with a piece of chalk or crayon

 Fitness India School Week under Fit India Movement


On the first anniversary of the Fit India movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on September 24, 2020 and hold online interactions with health influencers and citizens. The address will focus on raising awareness about the importance of health and wellness, especially during a global epidemic.









Prime Minister Modi will interact with some of the leading health figures in our country, such as Virat Kohli, Milind Soman, Rujuta Divekar and many others. In this talk, they will share their own personal fitness trips while guiding the Prime Minister about his own ideas on how to stay fit and healthy. The movement is an initiative by the Prime Minister himself, who envisioned it as a people's movement. He wants to engage the people of the country in a dialogue on the importance of health and come up with a plan to make India a fit nation. It aims to draw the people of the country together by adopting a fun-filled, easy and inexpensive way, through which people can stay fit and even initiate behavioral changes that can affect long-term health conditions. In the last year, many events have been organized under the Fit India Movement such as Fit India Freedom Run, Plug Run, Cyclothon, Fit India Week and Fit India School Certificate.
